About the Daily Illini
Founded in 1871, The Daily Illini has been the University of Illinois' student-run newspaper for 135 years. As the only local morning newspaper in Champaign-Urbana, The Daily Illini is the source of information on campus — from local and world news to campus commentary to dining and entertainment to film and theatre reviews. Additionally, a number of topical special editions including our New Student Edition, Ebert Film Festival Guide and semi–annual career, housing and dining guides round out our coverage of the University community.
The Daily Illini is respected as one of the best college newspapers in the country, regularly garnering national recognition. The students working at The Daily Illini have a hand in every facet of the newspaper, getting experience in reporting, photography, graphic design, editing, production, circulation, advertising, promotions and online journalism and design.
The Daily Illini is committed to providing an unsurpassed educational opportunity for our student employees and remaining a viable and effective advertising medium for our marketing partners.
